March

Everything has become a countdown.
So many days until this.
So many hours until that.
I find myself spending most of my time,
watching the third hand on the clock
tick it's way slowly around.
Over, and over, and over again.

Happiness is found on the open road.
Any road, that leads me out of here,
I suddenly feel calm, happy, and ready.
I'm so ready it's beginning to burn my fingertips
and I may develop heart palpitations.

There is a boy out there, sitting in a Barnes and Noble,
reading a book, with coffee (cream, no sugar) and wearing a knit hat,
waiting for me to walk through the door.

I'm going to drive until I find that door.

  1. Magnificent, dear Diana. The ending is just perfect. In quiet moments, I've been dreaming of such a door myself.

  3. Every kindred-spirited dreamer will agree with you. We all need an open road and a boy in a bookshop.

How is your novel going? I hope it is flourishing. I hope you are, too.

  4. The journey is worth it.

When you are not yourself, and embark on a journey,
    you become a discoverer...

And then you dream, and discover, and dream, and...
