"If I die young, bury me in satin..."

"Lay me down in a bed of roses,
Sink me in the river
at dawn.
Send me away with the words
of a love song."
-The Band Perry

Brother Bear says I always know just what to say.
I wish that meant I always knew what to do.
Like leaving my clothes on,
and hiding my dreams away
in that notebook under the stairs.

You never liked my dress anyway,
or the words I wrote for you.

Mother knows when I'm off,
but I don't want to tell her everything.
She doesn't understand.

Father just doesn't notice.

Bubba Bear is upset
but he won't tell me why.
He knows I'm leaving,
he keeps asking how many more days.
I don't want to take all the credit,
but I know it's my departure that's hurting him.

Sometimes, secrets are to heavy to share.

I know I shouldn't have done it,
but I did it anyway.
Forgive me.

Only eight months left
till life begins again.

"A penny for my thoughts,
oh no,
I'll sell them for a dollar.
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner.
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singing.
Funny when you're dead,
how people start listening.

So put on your best, boys
and I'll wear my pearls."
